The overview, as it actually looks. Anything wrong sorts to the top; when nothing is wrong the screen is quiet. The agency and client names here are invented — we have no customers to name yet.

The problem

Right now, you find out from the client.

A plugin updated itself at 3am

and blanked half the homepage. You found out on Thursday.

A certificate expired on a Sunday.

Every visitor saw a browser warning for nineteen hours.

A contact form stopped delivering

three weeks ago. Nobody noticed, because nothing looked broken.

None of these announce themselves. All of them end the same way — an angry phone call, unbillable emergency work, and a client who trusts you a little less.

What we check

Four things, on every site, on a schedule.

Watched from the outside, the way a visitor sees it. Every result is stored with its evidence, so you can always see what we asked for and what came back.

It’s reachable

We request the page the way a visitor does, and we tell the difference between “down” and “slow”.

The certificate is valid

And how many days are left before it isn’t.

The page actually renders

A real browser loads it. A page that returns 200 and shows nothing is still broken.

It still looks right

We compare against a known-good picture, so a theme or plugin update that wrecks a layout gets caught.

Why this one is different

Most monitoring gets cancelled for false alarms, not missing features.

Plumbline never alerts on a single bad result. A problem has to be seen twice, on separate attempts, before anyone is told.

And when our own checker fails — our network, our browser, our fault — we say so. We never report our failure as your client’s.

That second one is why a site in the screenshot above says partly checked rather than failing. They are not the same thing and we will not let them look the same.

The report

The part you send to your client.

Every month, per client, a report in your branding: what we checked, how many times, what we caught, and when it was fixed. It is emailed on your behalf, or you can open it, check it and send it yourself.

It turns “we look after your website” from something you say into something you can show. That is what makes a care plan defensible at renewal time.

What you see in Plumbline is exactly what your client receives. It prints to A4 and exports to PDF.

How to read this. The numbers above count checks, not minutes. Each site is visited on a schedule, so a problem that starts and clears between two visits would not appear here. We report what we saw and when we saw it, rather than an uptime figure, because an uptime figure calculated from periodic checks is an estimate presented as a measurement.

A report, with an invented agency and client. Your logo, your colour, your sending name.

Getting started

Three steps, about two minutes a site.

  1. Paste the URL.

Group it under the client it belongs to.

  2. Prove it’s yours.

Add one DNS record. We refuse to monitor a site nobody has verified.

  3. That’s it.

Alerts go to your email or your Slack.

Nothing is installed on your client’s site. No plugin, no agent, no server access. We watch from the outside, like a visitor.

Honestly

What Plumbline doesn’t do.

Worth reading before you decide. It is cheaper for both of us if you find out now.

  • We don’t install anything on your clients’ servers.

Which also means we cannot see anything a visitor cannot see.

  • We don’t scan for security vulnerabilities.

Different product. We will not pretend otherwise.

  • We don’t quote uptime percentages.

We report what we observed, with the evidence stored — because a check every minute is a sample, not a guarantee, and anyone quoting you “99.98%” is rounding a guess.

  • We don’t give your clients a login.

They get a report from you. The relationship stays yours.

  • We don’t have customers to name yet.

Plumbline is new. There are no logos on this page because there is nobody to put there, and an invented one would be the first thing we lied to you about.

Pricing

Published, flat, per month.

One flat fee a month for an allowance of sites, so your bill does not move when you take on another client. A paused site, or one whose ownership is not verified, is not being watched — it does not count towards your allowance and it is not billed.

Prices in USD, excluding any tax due where you are. Joining partway through a month costs part of a month.
Plan Per month
Up to 15 sites$25.00
Up to 35 sites$50.00
Up to 110 sites$100.00

An agency watching 30 sites pays $50.00 a month and bills their clients many times that. The fee is flat, so it does not move when they take on another client.

You are not buying a cost saving. You are buying something you can charge for.

Right now there is nothing to pay. The first agencies are free while we get this right, and the prices above are what we intend to charge once they aren’t. We would rather show you the number now than surprise you with it later.

Questions

The ones agencies actually ask.

Do I need access to my client’s server?

No. Plumbline watches from the outside, the same way a visitor does. Nothing is installed anywhere.

What if my client won’t give me DNS access?

Then we can’t verify ownership and we won’t monitor it. That rule protects you as much as it protects them: a tool that will happily hammer any address you paste into it is a tool that can be pointed at someone else.

How fast will I know?

Within minutes of the second confirmed failure. We deliberately do not alert on the first one — that is the difference between a tool you keep and a tool you mute.

Can I put my own logo on the report?

That’s the point of it. Your name, your logo, your colour, and your sending address on the email.

What happens if Plumbline itself goes down?

You’ll see it. The scheduler publishes a heartbeat, and we’d rather show you a gap than pretend we were watching. Checks we could not run are reported as ours, never as your client’s.

Why is it invitation-only?

Because we are letting agencies in a few at a time so we can talk to each one properly. Ask for an invitation and tell us roughly how many client sites you look after; that one number tells us whether this is built for you.

Stop finding out from the client.
